Standing Elk asked me to go check on a Grandmother in Santa Fe. I was on my way to Sedona to help with the Sedona Star Knowledge Conference (1999). Standing Elk gave me directions to find the house where she was staying. His directions were a little vague lol but that was his way. ” You go down this road and turn right, there will be a stop sign and the house is right there ” No house number, no street name, had to follow Spirit to get there.
I pulled up to the stop sign and realized that I had been here three times before. It was the first exit for Santa Fe, the one without a gas station. I had turned off three times before ( in over a decade) and had to turn around at that stop sign. Spirit had taken me there so I would recognize the house. I stopped at the house with my friend Gina and we knocked on the front door. A small ( in stature ) Grandmother answered the door cautiously. We told her Standing Elk asked us to stop by and check on her, she laughed and let us in.
We took her out to eat and stayed that night. She showed us a VHS video called ” From The Heart of The Earth” a BBC documentary about the Kogi, Older Brother and a warning for us. It was the first time they allowed anyone to film them but they were worried about us so they shared this message.
